The Regina Music Box Company was founded in 1894. Like all other music box companies, the Regina Music Box Company followed the traditional style for making and creating music boxes, but with a few improved features. The Regina music box was created to increase, enrich and enhance sound and volume. Unlike their competitors, the Regina music box also had the ability to play music for a longer period of time without someone having to rewind it.
These timeless music boxes contained up to 10,000 pins on what was known as a 13 inch long comb. These 10,000 pins, also known as teeth, had to be tuned any time the music boxes were moved in any way. Regina music boxes were innovative for their time because, and unlike traditional music boxes, the owners of them could change out the music and songs they were listening to.

The Regina tune sheets, which were interchangeable, metallic discs, were printed with the company logo, beautiful designs and different styles of music and songs. This allowed the owners of this music box to change out what they were listening to at any time to replace the tune sheets with something new and fresh. This innovation eliminated the boredom that was associated with the older-styled music box.
Over 100 years ago, the Regina music boxes were touted as America’s most refined music boxes. Although Regina music boxes were pretty expensive for their time period (they were $12.00, which equates to $300.00 in modern times), almost everyone who owned a home also owned this prestigious music box.
During their tenure of making and creating Regina music boxes, the company manufactured more than 100,000 music boxes. Sadly, and due to the passing of time which included two world wars, a major depression in economy and poor care, not many of the once glorious, highly sought after Regina music boxes have survived.
